Why take on an apprentice?

According to a report published on www.parliament.uk in September to November 2014 764,000 young people in the United Kingdom aged 16-24 were unemployed. So as a business that has the knowledge and experience readily available to share with young people, there seems no reason to not offer apprenticeships.

What better way to harness new talent and inject some fresh ideas into your business, share your knowledge and see how you can benefit young people, offer a long-term employment opportunity to the right candidate or see an individual progress their career in a particular field for another organisation and help to reduce the unemployment statistics.

In 2012, Moore Finance launched the Moore Academy, an in-house scheme employing school leavers and graduates. The aim of the Academy is to provide youngsters with experience in Business, Law, Accounting, Marketing, Account Management and Business Development.

Students Danielle Bush and Tom Bogle have this month joined us from Future Tech Studio in Warrington. The students are embarking on a Business and Finance course at Future Tech Studio School, a new type of state school for 14-19 year olds of all abilities, designed to better prepare young people for the working world.

Danielle and Tom have kick-started their apprenticeships by being introduced to the development of databases and exploring the uses and integration of social media in business. Both students will be taking an active role in the Academy’s twitter profile and you can follow their progress @Moore_Academy

Moore Finance Managing Director Nigel Garner says, “Tom and Danielle will be with the Moore Academy for the duration of their course working on practical projects whilst learning on the job and extending their business knowledge. Being able to offer young people in our local community a professional opportunity is very rewarding and I look forward to seeing them develop and grow.”

Tom and Danielle will share their experiences and development with you during their time at Moore Finance in a series of blog posts, so keep popping back and checking up on their progress.

And if you can, look into how you could integrate an apprentice into your organisation or if you could be the next candidate!
